Denise Allen, Ed.D.
Program Facilitator*
Denise Allen facilitates the Animal Assisted Education program. She earned a doctorate in health education at Columbia University with a specialty tract in health behavior, and positive psychology. Denise is a nationally recognized, licensed, National Board Certified Teacher of health education, and life sciences. Twenty-four (24) of her thirty (30) years of professional teaching have been with a therapy dog as her co-pilot in the classroom.
Denise is also a board certified Wellcoach, and certified personal trainer. Dr. Allen is also a licensed, National Registry Paramedic (inactive) with over 22 years of active FIRE/EMS service.
She is professional member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and the Maine Association Maine Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (MAHPERD), and the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE).

An endurance athlete for most of her life, Denise competes in both endurance running and long course triathlon events.

* Dr. Allen does not receive any financial compensation nor stipend from the district to facilitate the program. Dr. Allen views this work as a way to give back to the community, and enhance her professional practice.
